When Bassirou Diomaye Faye, a polygamist and father of 4 children, was growing up, no one had any inkling that he would one day go into politics, much less win a presidential election at his first trial. He was born on the 25th of March 1980, in Ndiaganiao, Senegal, to a Senegalese Father and a Zambian Mother, and had a pretty unremarkable childhood. His early days unfolded in the simple rhythms of rural life, there seemed to be no grand premonition that this unassuming boy would one day tread the corridors of power. On April 2nd, 2024, Bassirou Diomaye Faye has officially assumed the presidency of Senegal. The nation eagerly awaits his inaugural address and the direction he will take this vibrant West African democracy.
