Bassirou Diomaye Faye, a polygamist and father of four, grew up in rural Ndiaganiao, Senegal, with no indication of his future in politics. Born on March 25th, 1980, to a Senegalese father and Zambian mother, he had an ordinary childhood. Yet, on April 2nd, 2024, Faye made history by becoming Senegal’s president at his first attempt.
