INSPIRE MONDAY: OPRAH WINFREY’S PRACTICAL ADVICE TO HAVING A SUCCESSFUL LIFE

Practical advise by Oprah Winfrey to having a successful life.

1) Don’t measure your success by the amount of money you have. Measure it by the milestones you’ve reached and the challenges you’ve conquered to be a better person.

2) Focus on your own path. Make sure it’s made clear. Know what you want for your life and not merely what another person is doing. Know your path and make it clear.

3) Don’t be anxious for the future, things will work out. Keep doing what you need to. Anxiety does not add to the progress of things but it can take away.

4) Your self-esteem should not be tied to your success. Setbacks can happen which can in turn make you unhappy because your happiness and confidence is tied to it. “You realize to some extent, success is beyond our control” – Oprah Winfrey

5) Decisions have to be made. Life is all about decisions. Not everything can be fixed but a decision can set things on course, the important things. “The best decision you can make is to use your life in service.” – Oprah Winfrey.

6) Success is a process. You can’t expect a huge success overnight. It is built up. It requires diligence and consistency.

Being a good entrepreneur starts from being a good leader. Today on Inspire Monday , we share 5 tips learnt from Arianna Huffington on being a good leader.

1) You need space to innovate, think, and strategize.

2) Great leadership and creativity don’t come from the place of exhaustion and burnout: take a break when you need to.

3) Your energy and your time are scares resources, learn to prioritize and learn to let go: very important, don’t waste time and energy on what is not important.

4) Holding grudges is like drinking poison, it saps a lot of your energy: regardless of competition or staffs that drive you crazy, never hold a grudge, it affects you not the offender. Communicate effectively or ignore.

INSPIRE MONDAY: DWAYNE JOHNSON’S SECRET TO SUCCESS

Ever wonder why Dwayne Johnson is now one of the most successful actors; Here are 5 secrets to his success:

1) KNOW WHAT YOU WANT: To achieve a goal, you have to know what you want. Knowing what you want keeps you going even in the down time, you work harder to get it and nothing less.

2) BE YOURSELF: You have to be YOU to achieve what YOU want. If you try to be another person, you deviate from your goals and purpose. Everyone has their part to play, do yours by being YOU.

3) IMPROVE YOURSELF: Learn new skills and get certifications that would be beneficial to your career and business. It puts you ahead.

4) YOU NEED A MENTOR: Find someone that can guide you in that career path and you can be accountable to. It makes the journey easier and some pitfalls can actually be avoided.
5) BE PLAYFUL AND ENJOY LIFE: Cherish every moment because you can’t get that time again. Take everything one step at a time.

Have a productive and blessed week.

Inspire Monday: 5 Valuable Business Lessons from Beyonce’s Homecoming

  • Want to slay your goals like a master? Here are 5 valuable lessons from Beyonce’s Homecoming. Tap the link in our bio for more!
  1. You must be willing to sacrifice: To make big moves, you must be willing to sacrifice. This is the part where most people get stuck, because sacrifice is on many occassion uncomfortable. If you are on a mission to achieve big goals, you must sacrifice time, energy and money.
  2. Achieving your big goals will be uncomfortable. Beyonce had to train hard to perform at the level she was used to. According to her, “In order for me to meet my goal, I’m limiting myself to no bread, no carbs, no sugar, no dairy, no meat, no fish, no alcohol…”
  3. Understand your why. In Homecoming, Beyoncé’s priorities were clear—yes, she wanted to bring Coachella a performance like no other while highlighting her culture and leaving a mark for many years to come. She also, however, made it clear that she wanted to do all of that with her husband and children by her side as often as possible.
  4. Don’t overlook the little details. Beyoncé shows us that being able to clearly see the micro and macro views of our goals positions us to slay.
  5. Always give your all. Homecoming showed us what going all-in looks like. It showed us that in order to see massive success, we must put our all into every single piece of the puzzle. It showed us that above all else, achievement takes heart—and Beyoncé has plenty of that.

Have you seen homecoming? Tell us about your experience below.

Feature Friday: VHI Cargo, solution to international freight and logistics in Nigeria

In 2010, when we conceived the idea of www.briefessentials.com, it quickly became obvious that effective shipping service had to be in place for successful implementation of our business plan. In the initial months I had struggled with customs and paid so much for shipping to Nigeria. I also struggled with theft and incomplete goods on arrival.

By late 2011, I was starting to get discouraged as items I ordered were getting stolen in transit and I knew something had to be done to prevent us from running out of business.

As luck would have it, precisely August 2011, I came across Value Handlers (then Geokas Global) and got introduced to Mr Adetayo George.  Through Value Handlers – I am now able to ship from most parts of the world without much ado.

There’s been time we’ve incurred losses. I recalled in 2014, where we lost almost all the goods in a particular shipment due to customs related issues and rain, I was surprised to see Mr George at my doorstep to apologize and compensate for the damages.

With VHI I know the waiting time and as a result could have customers pre-order certain goods and then deliver on schedule.

The fees I have to pay are competitive; sometimes my many boxes are consolidated into larger boxes to save me some extra bucks, this part is indeed great. I do not have to worry about going to pick up my packages (no matter how much the boxes are), they deliver right to my doorstep.

If you are a retail or wholesale company with partners “in the abroad”, Value Handlers’ is just the best thing that can happen to your business. Let them help your business like they have mine.

This is an unbiased opinion and you can support a small business by checking them out on Instagram. Less I forget, VHI helps me to keep abreast of issues concerning importation in Nigeria.

After 7 years of doing business together, I had a chat with Mr George recently and I am impressed at the extent to which they have expanded their business.

The Wedding of the Year: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

0

Prince Harry and Meghan Markel (now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex) got married yesterday, May the 19th.

The Bride and her mother

Prince Harry and brother, Prince William

The Wedding took place in St George’s Chapel at 12pm, the church has so much beauty and sets a great ambience.

It was a very much anticipated wedding just like Duke and Duchess’ (Prince William and Princess Kate) wedding. Many people worldwide watched it live and oh my, out of the 600 guests that came, some of them just looked absolutely stunning

Queen Elizabeth II

Serena Williams and Husband

Oprah Winfrey

The unique part of this royal wedding is the diversity. Meghan Markle is actually part black, this made the wedding like never before. An all black choir, never seen that and the guests were more diverse. It was a royal wedding like never before.

The Kingdom Choir

The cake had a very simple yet refreshing touch to it. The choir rendered beautiful and emotional songs. Everything about their wedding was different, especially the diversity and having the wedding on a Saturday, which was not so for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William.

Meghan Markle wore a simple white dress with very light makeup, though on social media some found her outfit and makeup distasteful and too plane. However, some saw the beauty in the simplicity and thought she looked good regardless, leave a comment down below to tell us your opinion of her dress and make-up.

Her reception dress was however very classy and beautiful. She and Harry drove off in a Blue Cadillac that was customized into an electric car. Money really is a good thing.

If you enjoyed the Royal wedding (it had a lot of people fantasizing about their dream wedding), tell us your favorite part of the wedding in the comment section below. Do Have a good day.

This campaign is to point out the possibilities that can stem out of being infertile and works on removing the stigma that points that women are the only individuals that are infertile which is not true.
